As a Saint Paul Councilmember from 2012 to 2024, Amy demonstrated innovative, collaborative, and joyful leadership. During her tenure as Council President, she skillfully guided the council through critical events such as the global pandemic and civil unrest, while also facilitating the legislative aspects of the city’s substantial annual budget process. Amy fostered productive collaboration among council members with diverse priorities, enabling them to advance an equity-centered agenda focused on economic development, climate resilience, and data-driven decision-making.
Beyond her councilmember role, Amy has championed sustainable practices and revitalization projects through her involvement in organizations such as the Saint Paul Housing and Redevelopment Agency, the Port Authority, Regional Water Services, and the League of Minnesota Cities.
